Michele W. Sartori serves as the Practice Manager for Hogan Lovells' Investigations, White Collar, and Fraud Group. Her practice focuses on white collar criminal defense, government investigations, internal investigations, government enforcement actions, and complex civil litigation. Michele has particular experience in the areas of pharmaceutical, medical device, and healthcare fraud investigations and False Claims Act litigation. Michele also has significant experience representing government contractors, financial institutions, and educational institutions in criminal and civil investigations and False Claims Act litigation. Michele has handled numerous data breach investigations, FCPA investigations, antitrust investigations, and various other criminal investigations at the federal, administrative, and state level across the country.
Prior to joining the firm, Michele served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland where she prosecuted a wide range of cases in federal court, including complex financial fraud, healthcare fraud, cybercrime, tax crimes, government fraud, and public corruption. Michele conducted complex grand jury investigations, tried a dozen cases to jury verdict, and argued in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
During her tenure as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, Michele worked closely with Department of Justice Civil Division trial attorneys and Food and Drug Administration investigators and attorneys on a high profile, large-scale international healthcare fraud investigation involving a major pharmaceutical company.
Prior to joining the U.S. Department of Justice, Michele practiced civil litigation at Hogan Lovells. Michele served as a judicial clerk to The Honorable Marvin J. Garbis of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland.
