Douglas Fellman's practice involves the representation of clients in connection with complex criminal investigations and civil litigation, grand jury and other government proceedings and internal investigations.

Mr. Fellman's government investigations and white collar defense practice includes extensive representation of clients, including subjects and targets, in all phases of government investigations. He regularly handles matters at the agency enforcement or administrative level, as well as grand jury proceedings and related criminal investigations by federal and state authorities. He has represented numerous clients in federal grand jury investigations both in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States. In addition, Mr. Fellman has represented clients in connection with government searches and seizures, Inspector General investigations, state and federal enforcement actions, and Congressional investigations. He has defended clients, including companies as well as company audit committees and boards of directors, in numerous matters involving the Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission. In addition, he has handled investigations conducted by governmental agencies and departments including the Food and Drug Administration, U.S. Customs Service, Federal Trade Commission, Environmental Protection Agency, Internal Revenue Service, U.S. Treasury Department, U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Agriculture Department, U.S. Department of Transportation, Department of Health and Human Services, and the U.S. Postal Service. Mr. Fellman has extensive experience in connection with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and regularly counsels clients in this and other areas involving governmental regulation and oversight. In addition, he has conducted numerous internal investigations for domestic and multinational companies in connection with highly complicated and often extremely sensitive situations.

In the area of civil litigation, Mr. Fellman's practice includes representation of companies, and company officers and directors, in complex lawsuits or related proceedings involving corporate and business disputes, corporate control and governance, breach of contract, and allegations of breach of partnership and/or fiduciary duties. He has handled a multitude of cases in the federal and state courts and before administrative agencies, and he has also represented clients in a variety of litigation involving or against the federal government. In addition, Mr. Fellman has represented numerous law firms and individual attorneys in legal malpractice actions, and in connection with allegations of ethical misconduct pending before the D.C. Board on Professional Responsibility or other ethics tribunals. He has similarly represented and counseled other professionals (accountants, physicians) in litigation and other proceedings.

Mr. Fellman is a native of the greater Washington Metropolitan area. Following law school, he served as a law clerk to The Honorable James A. Belson of the D.C. Court of Appeals. He has been active in political and civic activities, including two terms of service on the Board of Trustees of The Johns Hopkins University.
